At Triban, we believe cycling should be accessible and enjoyable for everyone. That’s why for over 40 years, we’ve been developing high-quality road bikes and gravel bikes that deliver an incredible riding experience without the premium price tag.
Our Story

It all started in France in 1976 when Michel Leclercq, a professional cyclist and engineer, began tinkering in his garage, determined to build bikes that combined top-tier performance with a budget-friendly price.
After years of experimentation and refinement, Michel launched his first collection of road bikes under the Triban brand in 1990. Built around meticulously engineered aluminum frames, these sleek yet sturdy bikes quickly garnered a reputation for their smooth handling, responsive pedaling, and all-around riding enjoyment.
Bolstered by the enthusiastic response from riders across Europe, Michel continued expanding the Triban line. He moved operations from his garage to a small factory, growing his team of designers and technicians. While new materials like carbon fiber allowed for higher-performance bikes, Michel remained committed to keeping costs down.
In 2004, Triban was acquired by the French sporting goods retailer Decathlon, which shared our goal of democratizing cycling. With Decathlon’s backing, we invested heavily in R&D, focusing on proprietary technologies that improved comfort, speed, and durability.
Today, from our design facilities near Lille, France, our team of passionate engineers continues crafting Triban bikes that deliver a pure, intuitive riding experience. And we’ve proudly maintained our competitive pricing, so more riders than ever can experience the simple joy of cycling.
Our Bikes
We offer an extensive range of road and gravel bikes to suit every rider’s needs:
- Race bikes: Built for speed, our race bikes feature lightweight frames and components optimized for accelerating, climbing, and achieving PRs. Models like the RC500 offer an exceptional blend of responsiveness and comfort over long distances.
- Endurance bikes: With relaxed geometry and vibration-damping features, our endurance bikes are ideal for racking up the miles in comfort. The smooth-riding RC120 has become a favorite among recreational riders.
- Gravel bikes: Equipped with wider tires and stable handling, our gravel bikes thrive on pavement and hardpack dirt alike. The versatile GRVL 120 gives you the freedom to explore on- and off-road.
- Electric bikes: Take on challenging terrain and ride longer with pedal assist. Our e-bikes like the E-RC120 let you maintain your preferred cadence while reducing effort.
Across all categories, we strive to overdeliver on value, incorporating high-end features like internal cable routing, tubeless-ready wheels, and hydraulic disc brakes—even on our most affordable models. Our meticulously designed bikes have been ridden to victory in races worldwide, from the Tour de France to the Paris-Roubaix.
Yet we never lose sight of our roots in democratizing cycling. While performance remains paramount, we engineer our bikes to be accessible and welcoming to riders of all skill levels. Because cycling is for everyone.
Our Design & Engineering

Every Triban bike starts with our engineers obsessively analyzing the ideal geometry, materials, and components for the intended riding experience. Using leading CAD platforms along with proprietary simulation and modeling software, we can thoroughly test each design to optimize efficiency, comfort, and durability before ever building a physical prototype.
Our bikes utilize a combination of materials and construction methods aimed at delivering the best performance within each model’s target price:
- Aluminum alloy frames offer durability and vibration dampening at our most affordable price points. We strategically tune the tubing shapes and wall thicknesses to boost compliance.
- High-modulus carbon fiber allowed us to substantially drop weight while boosting stiffness and shock absorption. Our mid-to-upper-range bikes feature full carbon or alloy/carbon composite frames.
- Tube-to-tube construction enables predictable performance and easier repairs versus monocoque frames on select models.
- Threaded bottom brackets ease maintenance.
- Internal cable routing results in clean, aerodynamic frames.
- Flat-mount disc brakes provide greater stopping power and modulation in all conditions.
We thoroughly test prototypes under real-world conditions on tracks and trails across France, as well as in our on-site wind tunnel. This intensive development process allows us to refine attributes like stiffness, handling, and reliability prior to production.
At our factories, we oversee each step of fabrication and assembly to ensure flawless quality. Custom jigs guarantee precision alignment of frames, while automated tools assist with tasks like wheel truing for consistent quality. Before a bike ships, it undergoes multiple quality assurance checks.
We back all of our bikes with a lifetime frame warranty and stand behind every product we make. Because your trust means everything.
Our Technology
We’re constantly researching, testing, and integrating innovative technologies into our bikes:
- Integrated seatposts on models like the GRVL 520 boost compliance while shedding weight. The flexible seatpost absorbs road vibration and shock for a smoother ride.
- Flat-mount disc brakes provide greater stopping power and modulation than traditional rim brakes. Hydraulic discs deliver enhanced precision and performance in all conditions.
- The Smoothness Index helps quantify vibration absorption based on lab testing data. A higher score indicates better shock absorption for a more comfortable ride.
- Tubeless-ready wheels create a tighter interface between tire and rim, reducing the risk of flats while enabling lower tire pressure for increased traction and comfort. Many of our bikes now come tubeless ready.
- Tire clearance up to 45mm+ enables fitting wider tires on our gravel bikes for stability and traction on variable surfaces, without compromising mud clearance.
We’re also committed to adopting sustainable materials and processes. Our Ecodesign program focuses on using responsibly sourced raw materials, reducing carbon emissions in manufacturing and transportation, cutting energy use, minimizing waste, and increasing the recyclability of bike components.
